Continued from Accidental Kill…
“What are we doing here?” Samuel asked.
From her pocket, Nora pulled a pair of sunglasses and handed it to him. “Here, put these on.” His eyebrow arched. “Just trust me.” Samuel reluctantly donned on the shades.
“So are you going to tell me exactly what we’re doing here?” He asked impatiently.
“I want you to join us and actually do some good in the world. What you are doing now, it’s bad. Sooner or later, you’d get caught.”
“And what exactly am I doing?”
“You’re hunting us. I know what you see. You see black smoke rising from me but your eyes are deceiving you.”
He leaned against the railing and looked out into the creek. The wind from the rush of water felt so soothing. “What do you see?”
“I see you.” She sighed. “But sometimes, I see black smoke oozing out of you.”
He staggered backward as he struggled to process the information. He clutched his head. “What have I done? What has Dominic done to me?” He said frantically.
She grabbed his hand but he wrenched it away. “We can fix this.” She said softly.
He shook his head. “No you can’t.” He shouted and ran.
Very good, but who is deceiving who? 🙂
