Continued from last week’s story…
Her breath labored as she trudged through the woods. She was now more than 200 miles away. Five days had gone by since she hopped on a freight train not far from the silo where she fed herself raw grain. She told herself everything will be fine but at the same time, she doubted her words.
She went on though, knowing there has to be an end in all of this. Ahead, she saw a clearing. Just a few steps more, she told herself. Exhausted, she staggered forward, tripped, and fell into darkness just as she heard screams and panic.
I wonder if those screams were hers or someone elses.
