Delphine always wanted to pilot her father’s plane and when he forgot his keys on her tenth birthday, she knew that taking off would be easy but at the same time, she was afraid. She had never broken a rule and vowed to keep it that way. But she did it anyway. On the night before her tenth birthday, she crept into her father’s office and stole the key to his plane.
She patted her pocket as she sat down for breakfast the next morning but the longer she sat, the heavier the key in her pocket seemed to become. She played with her eggs while her parents made small conversation.
“Are you excited, Delphine?” Her father asked after breakfast. Delphine frowned, clueless. “Your first flying lesson!”
“For real?!”
Her father chuckled, “Of course! You deserve to learn.”
Delphine threw her arms around her father but her heart was still racked with guilt. She had to fix this, quick. “May I be excused?” Her father nodded and quickly, she replaced the stolen key in its rightful place.

Thank you. I think if she had kept the key, instead of her first lesson, she might had been grounded instead.

I’m so glad her birthday present was a flying lesson! She may have learned another one that could have been tragic if she had followed through with her plan. Great story.

Ooh, she just about got caught red-handed. Good for her and her thinking fast. A fun story with great irony.
