Monday’s Finish the Story: The Woman Behind the Veil

From her small balcony, the witch watches the world go by.

No one knows if she is a witch. Everyone just say she is because she always appears on her balcony wearing a beekeeper hat with 360-degree veil that covers her face. Every morning at dawn is the same routine. I would know, I’ve observed her from my bedroom window across the street.

I don’t believe in the existence of witches or the supernatural non-sense. I believe there is a story behind that veil and I intend to find out.

I wait until my nosy neighbor, Mrs. Peterman, drives off to the store before I step out of my house and cross the street. As my feet step on the pavement, the atmosphere immediately feel different. I can’t describe it.

Quickly, I walk up the steps to her front door and knock. A minute has passed before she opens the door, still wearing her veil, our eyes meet and I knew…
