Friday Fictioneers: Merman


He’d come here whenever he feels alone. Ever since he could remember, he’d been trying to fit in but somehow, something was hold him back. “What am I doing wrong?” He’d ask the sea but it’d never reply. “I don’t feel belonged here. It’s,” he’d then pause, “like I’m in an alien.”

In the distance, away from his line of sight, she’d surface from the water. She wanted to hold his hands and wanted to tell him, “Because you are special, son.” Then she’d help him into the water and transform him into his true form, a merman.
