Friday Fictioneers: Frightful Scenario

Every time she walks down the street, people starts gawking. What is she doing? They wonder. Why is she hitting her head?

The things is, she can’t help it. Terrifying scenarios pop into her mind with everything she sees. Like this bicycle parked by the fire hydrant, she sees the bicycle in reality but in her mind, the ground suddenly tilts and the bicycle rolls down the hill into her. She lets out a frightful gasp and slaps the top of her head, snapping herself back to reality. “Don’t think that.” She scolds herself. “You know better.”

You see why now?

Each week, Rochelle Wisoff-Fields-Addicted to Purple hosts Friday Fictioneers where we’re challenged to write a piece of flash fiction in 100 words, more or less, based on the picture above.

  1. ooouuu, that was an interesting one, indeed. If only we could see the world as others see it… would it change us? Would we be more sympathetic, more active in fighting for the least? Something to think about.

  2. That poor woman, she must be terrified all the time. People with a lively imagination tend to see more possibilities for disaster than others but hers is an extreme case.

    • It is indeed an awful thing to happen to anyone. I hope she finds a way to cope with it and learn that not everything is as awful as it seems. Thank you for reading.
