100 Word Wednesday: That day

That afternoon changed my life forever. I had arrived to pick my son up from school when I noticed the long line outside the school.  “What’s going on?” I asked the lady standing in front of me.

Before she could answer, sirens blared as police cars, fire trucks, and ambulances arrived at the same time. “There’s a bomb situation.” She said. I stared at her, speechless. Bomb situation?

My heart began to pound as thousands of horrifying scenarios zoomed through my head. “Please calm down,” said the police officer with the bullhorn as a deafening boom sounded from the school.

  1. Oh how devastating — and the story to be left hanging mid-emergency with so much tension!! I actually love that you left it open for interpretation, but as a reader, my mind is filling in the blanks…Great one! Thank you so much for joining us again this week ❤
