Flash Fiction for Aspiring Writers: The Council

Note: This story features the character from this story.

Kyle shut his eyes and took a deep breath, willing his mind to rest. It had been a long day and week. His visions seemed to be more frequent now and sometimes, it would come without the need to touch an object. The last time a vision was triggered, Kyle was crossing a street and he came out of the vision just as he was about to be struck by a car.

Kyle took another deep breath, willing himself to sink into a deep relaxation state and into a dreamless sleep even though there’s no such thing as a dreamless sleep for a seer like him.

Moments later, he opened his eyes and found himself in the woods, surrounded by scraggly trees. “Where am I?” He asked himself, “How did I get here?”

Suddenly, an odd shaped rock appeared before him. He circled the stone as a voice appeared in his head. “Welcome Kyle.” Kyle immediately jumped backward.

“Who are you?”

“We are the Seers’ Council and we are here to guide you on your journey.”

  1. Very cool story. I like the visions and howconcdntrating brought him to this peaceful place. The rocks remind of the ones on the Disney move “Tangled.” He’s found his Yoda I guess 🙂
