“Ah, a grasshopper, shoo!” Jaime waved a roll-up newspaper at the insect.
Her husband, Todd, chuckled, “Relax, honey, it’s only a grasshopper. It’s harmless.”
“It may be harmless but it’s bad luck to around one.”
“How do you figure?” Todd scratched the back of his head and pulled his phone out from his back pocket. “Honey, according to Google, it’s a sign of good luck, happiness, longevity, good health, and wealth.”
Jaime grabbed the phone and squinted at the words in the tiny screen. She scoffed, “I don’t believe in such silly stuff. I’m talking about that time when I was pushing a cart full of grocery to the car. I saw a grasshopper by the tree. The next thing I knew, the milk carton tilted, the lid came loose, and the milk got spilled all over the parking lot. Now is that bad luck or what?”
Todd shook his head and sighed.

Probably should read: … but it’s bad luck to be around one.

Hahahaha! Poor grasshopper. I don’t think she is going to give it a chance since he is such bad luck. LOL! Great story, Yinglan!
