“Does anyone know what this is?” The children shook their heads at the picture. “Well, long ago, before this library was built, there was this old man. We called him the town hoarder while some called him the town thief. If you place something on your lawn, it would disappear overnight. A week later, your lost possession would mysteriously end up at the hoarder’s house.”
One of the children’s hand shot up, “What happened to the old man?” She said in a soft voice.
“Well, he died. If he was still here, do you think this library would’ve been built?”

Children ask questions about anything and everything, don’t they?

They sure do. 😃

A rounded story. Trust a child to ask the obvious. We should all take a leaf from their book.

I think he had just let it go, probably didn’t have any relatives.

The child’s quiet voice seems to show some compassion for this eccentric old man. Heart-warming.

I think they wanted to get to know him better. ☺
