“Emily?” I froze. How the hell did he manage to find me? I turned around, expected to see my husband’s angry expression on his face but instead, I saw the man I fell in love but with fine lines on his forehead. What happened? I wondered. It’s only been a month but it looked as though he aged ten years.
“What are you doing here? How did you even find me?” I asked quickly and gasped, “the kids.”
He put a hand on my arm, “Relax, they’re fine. They’re with my parents. Moreover, what about you?”
Emily looked away. Ever since she got laid-off, she’d been depressed. She no longer had the interest to play with her children or any interest to do anything at all. Meanwhile, her kids were being kids, screaming and misbehaving like typical five-year-olds, which just about drove her to the brink of insanity. So one morning, without another thought, she packed a duffel full of clothes, cash, and a few other things. Then she hopped on a plane for Italy.

I am participating in Flash Fiction for Aspiring Writer, where we write a piece between 100 and 150 words (more or less 25 words) in length inspired by the photo prompt above.
Neat little story, captures a lot in a little.

Poor lady, she was having a mental breakdown and just needed a break! Thank goodness her husband went to look for her and found her. Great story, Yinglan!

Thank you.
Though her husband found her, I don’t think she wanted to be found, at least not yet.

There are so many times that we all want to just go away from it all. Unfortunately, flight tickets are too expensive, and most countries need us to have a visa 🙂

That is very true.

It seems to me running away without informing whereabouts for losing the job and escaping the screaming kids are too flimsy to empathise with the protaganist.
But it is a nice take for the photo provided as prompt and well written
