She takes in the scene before her before crossing the room to yank the dusty curtains wide open. “Mom?!” She calls. Her mother has done it again. She’s gone back to her bad habits. For what? A bad breakup?
“Mom?!” She calls again and starts heading down the hall to the bathroom. It’s always the first place she checks to see if her mother is hugging the toilet, throwing up everything she’d consumed the previous night.
And there she is, her head rests at the side of the tub, asleep. She sighs, “What am I going to do with you?”

So sad and so believable. I knew someone many years ago who had a mother like this. It was heartbreaking for the whole family.
