“I am not going up there.” Ella said firmly.
“Why? Are you scared?” Her brother, Kyle, teased. “Come on, sis, it’s just a house. Mrs. Salem won’t bite and she might have lots of candy given she does live in this huge house.”
Ella glowered at her brother. That’s what she wants people to believe, she wanted to say but decided against it. Kyle would just tease her more and call her a chicken. She had been inside this creepy estate which had been deemed the “Haunted House of the Neighborhood” and saw some horrifying things she couldn’t imagine ever be wiped from her memory.
“I’m not going up there even if my life depends on it.”
“Okay, suit yourself.” Kyle snatched the pumpkin-basket from Ella and climbed the steps. He knocked, “Trick or Treat.”
As the door opened, Ella’s eyes bulged. She gasped and shouted, “Look out!” as the ugly monster reached out and grabbed Kyle.
Later that night…
“It’s not funny.” Ella punched Kyle’s arm as he retold the story. “You’re so cruel.”

Just like a brother to scare his younger sister. Nice Halloween story.

Halloween, the time in which legalised begging for sweets is actively encouraged! Good story

It’s also a free pass for children to have more candy than usual. 😄 Thank you for reading.

Ha ha ha, can’t help but laugh at the brother’s imaginative antics, even though his sister might now agree with me 🙂

Glad that both are safe. Children may have gut feeling of something wrong. But this time, Ella was wrong. Or was she?

I agree about the gut feeling but I think it’s just a false alarm this time.

Hahaha so it was just a scary story after all? Sounds like something an older sibling would do!

Haha! Yeah, it was a silly prank. I don’t think there was a big age difference between them though.
