Flash Fiction for Aspiring Writers: Karma

Do you believe in karma? If you do, you will know better than forcing me out of my home of 50 years. All because of what? To build your subdivision? If you think you can offer me money to appease what you’ve done, you’ve got another thing coming. I am going to make this land so inhospitable that you will never get anyone to live here.

24 Hours earlier…

“Are you sure you want to do this?” My sister, Valerie, said holding a dagger in her dominant hand. Of all my sisters, Valerie’s the one who had proven confident for the job. I nodded. As much as I want to live and be with my sisters, I must do this to teach these mortals a lesson – never mess with witches.

“Very well,” Sister Gail said monotonously. “Let us gather.”

Valerie and I took our position in the center of the circle while the other chanted. “…and now you shall join our ancestor.” I heard those last words as the dagger slashed my throat and everything went dark.

(~175 words)

I am participating in Flash Fiction for Aspiring Writer, where we write a piece between 100 and 150 words (more or less 25 words) in length inspired by the photo prompt above.
