“Daddy, I want to be like her someday.” She said, pointing at the woman in the poster.
Her dad picked her up, “But you’ll always be my little girl, right?” She smiled and nodded.
Eight years later…
Sitting on the bench in locker room, she hears the crowd chanting her name. “I sure have made a name for myself,” she smiles, thinking of what she had said all those years ago when she saw that poster in the store window – “I want to be like her someday” – before rising from the bench and kisses her gloves. Another match, another win.
