Share Your World – Week of January 11, 2021

What should you get rid off, that would make your new year better, and why? (Don’t say Covid-19, we all want to get rid of the dang virus)

I wouldn’t mind getting rid of some of the stuff occupying my closet and I’m not talking about clothes. I donated 5 bags of clothes last year and I’ve been thinking of selling of the things in my closet like two camera lenses for a camera I can no longer use due to a moldy sensor and a stereo set from way back when listening CDs was popular.

What’s the most daring thing you’ve ever done?

The most daring thing I can think of is ending a month with less than $100 in my bank account. I did that several times last year and even though it was after doing some meticulous calculation that I decided to do that, it made me feel incredible uncomfortable and anxious. I don’t do that anymore now. Now I typically leave about $200 in there. Still risky but I think I can do more than $100.

Does your family have a “motto” – spoken or unspoken?

Be smart and think hard before every move.

On a scale of 1-10 how funny would you say you are?  (this does not mean ‘smell’ or looks; because this is a judgment free blog!)

I would probably give myself a 3 or 4. I try to be funny and sometimes I try too hard and by the time the funny thought becomes words, it’s all jumbled and it’s no longer funny.

Tell everyone something that you found personally lifted your spirits!

  • Getting time for a quiet moment with my thoughts
  • Spending time with a paperback book – I’m old-fashioned, I guess.
  • Window-shopping on Amazon – I don’t know how it lifts my mood but it does and it helps me set goals of what to buy next.

  1. Thanks, Yinglan for Sharing Your World! Neat image you shared, very enthusiastic and fun! Purging one’s home of stuff that’s just lying around, and won’t ever be used, is a wonderful trait to encourage. It’s easy to slip into the ‘I’ll do that later” mode and wake up three years later with a pile of stuff you don’t want! I agree that reading a book (an actual book) is a joy and a pleasure! Have a great week!

    1. Thank you. It is definitely easier to say “I’ll do that later.” 😀 I’ve been doing that for years until my room is so full of stuff that I start piling them in my closet. It feels good to get rid of things now and then no matter how hard it is. Have a great week.
