Share Your World – Week of May 31, 2021

What activity instantly calms you?

Usually, just sitting in my chair, take a deep breath, and telling myself everything’s going to be okay does the charm. I worry too much about too many things beyond my control and I think telling myself those problems can wait sorta momentarily calms me down.

What’s the most spontaneous thing you’ve done lately?

Probably spending almost $6 dollars on a sandwich at a gas station yesterday and I was glad I did because otherwise I would’ve been so hungry. We went out to Bear Lake yesterday and I don’t know whether it was by accident or on purpose, my uncle missed every restaurant along the way and I wasn’t able to pull anything up with Google Maps (not enough bars).

We eventually ended in Evanston, Wyoming at a gas station and while everyone was busy trying to figure out how to play the Powerball and Mega Million, I got myself a sandwich. Then somehow, my uncle’s phone’s GPS led us on the interstate, not to the KFC in Evanston. Maybe it was fate or maybe it was a lesson to be learned? Either way, I was so glad I got that sandwich even if it was overpriced.

If people receive a purple heart for bravery, what would other color hearts represent?  (Example yellow heart = cowardice)

I’m not sure why the color purple stands for bravery. Purple reminds me of bruises. I think bravery should be signified with a red heart, white heart signifies strength, and purple for fighters.

What is the bravest thing you’ve ever done or witnessed someone else do?

I saw some people scaling the side of the mountain this past weekend, I thought they were pretty brave.

  1. Thanks, Yinglan for Sharing Your World! I’m glad you got some food too! It can be rather hard to find places to eat up this way (I live sorta by the Utah side of Bear Lake). Beautiful lake though, I’m envious and glad you could take a day trip and see that! Your heart colors were great! The purple heart (military) is one that is awarded post-humously to a soldier or military person who died doing something brave. I think. Just in case you were wondering. Have a great week!

    1. I’ve been there a few times and know from experience that most foods are either in Idaho or at that intersection where Highway 89 turns Highway 30. I love being the driver on these trips rather than be the navigator, because instead like my uncle zooming past all the good spots in Logan Canyon, I get to stop, park, and take in the scenery.
I understand what the Purple Heart is for, just don’t understand why it’s the color purple.
Thanks for the great questions this week, quite thought provoking.
      Have a great week. 🙂

    1. I don’t think the questions are dumb, maybe some, but there are also some thought-provoking questions. I often use this as a mental exercise and a break from thinking about work.
