To buy or not to buy?

I can’t sleep. I can’t sleep because this land fiasco is scaring the crap out of me. My mom is having second thoughts again about the little piece of land I mentioned in my post and this time, she’s managed to dragged me into it as well.

I thought that after the offer was made and signed last week would put all the doubts at ease but for the entire week, she just keep bringing up the topic. $350,000, that’s how much we’re talking about for a brand spanking new house with all the upgrades we want. 9-foot ceilings, granite counter-tops, tile floors, and a bathroom in the basement.

But it’s worth it, right? To build the house of our dreams on a hill overlooking the Utah Lake? You can’t beat that. It’s almost like a once in a lifetime opportunity. The population is growing and it’s going to continue to grow until it reaches that steady number.  You’ve learn about logistic growth in math class, right?

Last night, there was even an article about how the birth-rate in the U.S. has seen increase this year compare to the last 7 years or so.

Well, where are those babies going to live say 20 years from now? Yes, there will still be houses with a view but the chances of finding a view like this will probably be rare.

But $350,000 though. That is a lot of money. Is it worth it to keep going and get all the blame for this later or is it easier to back down now and get one that’s several years old later? I don’t study real estate and never really had an interest in it.

So I’m asking all you real estate people out there, should I back out on this plot of land now and find something maybe cheaper later? Or go for it?

Anything you want to ask? Want to know?
