Last year, when my aunt from China came to visit, she brought along a whole boatload of goodies in her luggage from Chinese New Year decorations that are still plastered all over the house to this, just your plain everyday souvenir. I hung it in my car ever since.
On the souvenir, it embroidered the characters, “出入平安”. It means go in and out safely. This is my lucky charm. Since my accident in 2010, driving has become every young person’s dream to a nightmare. It has also become a nightmare because my car constantly feels like it’s on the brink of death. That is why I call this my lucky charm because it always assures me that every time I go out that I’m going to make it home safe and sound.
Call me superstitious but it’s true! Over the past year, not only have I had many close calls but my car also. I remember at the end of last year and early this year, I encountered a major problem with my car, it dies every time I stop at a light, stop sign, or just in the middle of parking. I became constantly afraid that it’ll die in the middle of the road and cause a chain reaction (the car behind hit me and so on and so on) but it didn’t happen.
But no matter how worried I was, it always brought me safely home. That is why this plain old souvenir is my lucky charm.
Thanks for listening and have a great day. 🙂

I am also superstitious and have my own lucky charms. 🙂

something you wear all the time or just something you can leave the house without?
