Backstage, the stage hands scrambled.
“Somebody pull that damn rope!” Someone whisper-shouted.
“Somebody, for the love of God!” Another chimed in.
No one was manning the rope.
Down in the orchestra pit, the conductor had turned his head while his hands were waving wildly, his mouth gaped open, his eyes staring straight up.
One after another, from the violins and cellos to the flutes and clarinets to the trombones and percussion, the orchestra stopped playing. They were all staring up, mesmerized.
Standing at one of the stage, behind the curtain, the director tore her glasses from her eyes, mouth gaped. “How in the hell is he doing that?” She wanted to say but was speechless.
Everyone was absolutely hypnotized by his presence. Under the white cloak to conceal his hideousness, he closed his eyes and inhaled. It’s been a long time since he’s eaten and he was starving. “Souls of this earthly plane,” he announced, “renounce your physical form and join me on this Hallow’s Eve.”
One after another, the hypnotized audience slumped in their seats, while those who stood fell, as their souls were being sucked from their bodies. No one was going to join him. They were all just fuel for him to become more powerful and once the power of the souls has worn off, he will seek more until he could restore his immortal physical form.

Oh wow.

Oh man! I love a good ghost story, and you’ve sure written a good one. What a terrifying time that night at the concert. 🙂

Thank you. Haha, it was a play, I think. The image was very motivational, I don’t think what other kinds of stories I could’ve written beside horror and ghostly. 😀

Never heard of a whisper-shout. However this is a wonderful and intriguing ghost story. I would love to read about what happens next here.

You haven’t? A whisper-shout is just someone trying to whisper and shout at the same time, I tried it once and it really hurts the vocal cords.
