What do you see #266 – Little Artist

Please note that this is entirely fiction…

I have always been fond of blackboards. When I was in elementary school, I remember I’ve always wanted to draw on them, like really draw them, not just solving math problems on them. I remember picking up a piece of chalk once and my fingertips felt so rough and powdery afterwards.

So when I finally got the chance to have my own house, I put a blackboard in the living room. However, life got in the way and I never got to draw on the blackboard. The blackboard was only used to jot down phone numbers and important dates.

One day, feeling bored, my son decided to pick up a piece of chalk and started doodling on the board. “Uh honey,” I said, “what are you doing?”

My son didn’t answer. He just drew and drew. Instead of prodding him to answer my question, I sat back and watched him do the thing I never got to do. After some time, he stepped back and marveled at his work. It was the most detailed drawing of a dragon I’ve ever seen. “Well, look at you, my little artist.”
