What do you see #291 – Dream Vacation

“Ah, how I wish I can stay like this forever,” she sighs as she lies on the pale white sandy beach.

For 2 years, she has saved and saved, stockpiling every penny, nickels, dimes, quarters, and scrap bills she makes waiting tables. She’s seen just about every sort of man and woman out there, from the nicest to the rudest.

“Hey you, come back here, my steak is raw,” she remembers the man with the gruff shouted. Face burning with anger and embarrassment, she muttered an apology and retreated to the kitchen with the plate of half-eaten food.

The chef ended up had to waste that steak and cook a new one. “Put it under the un-salvageable account,” he advised when his daughter, the bookkeeper came into the kitchen.

That rude man ended up leaving a one-dollar tip for a 50-dollar meal.

Finally, she could afford a vacation, to go somewhere that doesn’t rain everyday, to go somewhere where rude people don’t exist, a place where all that exists is pale sandy beach and pristine blue waters.

“Ah, miss?” She suddenly feels like she’s being shaken, “miss, wake up.”

“Huh?” Groggily, she opens her eyes to find a plane attendant staring at her, concerned. Wasn’t I on the beach? She wonders.

“We are about to land, if you will buckle up.”

She nods, clicks the seat-belt together, pushes up the plastic on the window, and gasps. What a big moon, she thinks, as the plane gently descends, getting her closer to her dream vacation.
