Leslie gulped. Can I do this? She wondered as she squinted at her phone. On it were an email from her editor, wanting her to finish her current assignment in the desert of Arizona as soon as possible and get on the next boat toward the frigid arctic.

She tapped on the reply button and hovered her thumb over the keyboard. She asked again. Can I do this? Her trips are usually spaced out for at least a month, giving her a chance to catch up on editing her drafts as opposed to working overtime to edit right before the deadline. At the same time, she wanted to see th arctic. She wanted to see the glaciers and the floating blocks of ice in the water. Wouldn’t that be a sight!

After watching the cursor blink a few times, she went for it and thought excitedly, it can be a trip of a lifetime.

“You got it, boss,” she typed and sent the email. I can always work on the way there and on my return trip, she thought, I can make this work.
