3 Essential Rules that Would Make you a Good Neighbor (For me)

Whether you’re living in an apartment or house, when you’re living next door to somebody, sometimes, you need to consider others first and then yourself.

  1. Just because the sun’s up does NOT mean your neighbors are up. A good example would be this morning when my neighbor decided to mow his lawn at 7 am when my window was open and still asleep.
  2. Just because you like the song does NOT mean you have to play it so loud your neighbor can hear it. In fact, they may not even like the song. My mom, step-dad, and I used to live in an apartment in California and our next door neighbor would often blast his stereo right through our walls. Seriously, my neighbor’s bass would often shake up our side of the wall and all day and all night long, the only sound we could hear was the boom boom boom over and over again.
  3. Just because you’re not tired does NOT mean your neighbor does not need to sleep.

We don’t like to leave the air conditioning on all night because it gets so stuffy in the midnight hours. So we turn it off at around 10 pm. Then we would open the windows, crank up the fans and go to sleep. Unfortunately, some of our neighbors apparently don’t need sleep and recently, they got into the habit of setting off firework during the late night hours. Anyway, fireworks around incredibly loud and any noise nowadays is a distraction for me even sleep. So it’s quite annoying on my end.

These rules are NOT designed to be an insult to anyone. It’s just so courtesy rules that might enhance the neighborly relationship. After all, neighbors are important.

Thanks for stopping by and always be considerate of your neighbors!
