Forgotten

May I say I feel a little forgotten and angry at the moment?

Usually, employers would send out W-2’s early January so employees would get it and complete their taxes in February or March. This year so far, I have not receive any. Not even from the school my mom and I worked at last year and it’s just me. My mom got hers about two weeks ago.

So since I am no longer busy with my business law class (I dropped it in case you didn’t get the news), I decided to investigate. And of course, my procrastination took over whenever I’m set to do something. I’ve finally done it today. It turned out, I’ve been forgotten. 😦 My W-2 was somehow resting in my old inbox at the school. Well, that’s one issue taken care of. I am still waiting for my 1099 from my other employer.

I also called Mr. Li’s accountant and that is exactly why I am angry. The CPA firm he had chosen to represent him had to be the most stubborn people I’ve ever dealt with. I called over there, demanding to know where and what they did with my W-2. It turned out they sent it to California, to Mr. Li.

“I don’t live in California,” I told them in frustration.

“It’s not our responsibility to send you your W-2, it’s your boss’s job.” Yes! Of course it’s your job to send me, the employee, the W-2. Not all bosses reside near employees.

She recommended me to call Mr. Li and just my luck, he’s gone back to China for Chinese New Year and no one knows when he’s coming back. In the mean time, I told my mom about it because she worked for him too and need her W-2 and she is definitely not happy. Now we’ll just have to wait and hope.

By the way, is it even ethical for accountants to do that? Hmm, a good question to bear in mind to ask my instructor.
