“Where are you taking me?” She giggled as he led her up the stairs, blindfolded.
“Almost there, step up here.” He released her blindfold. They were at the top of the tower, where they first danced. In the middle of the room, there was a small table, and on the table, there’s a silver dome, the kind servers used at restaurants.
“What’s all this?” She asked. He smiled, as if she had forgotten an important event. “Wait, did I forget our…” Anniversary? She wanted to say but didn’t feel right.
He pulled a chair for her and whispered. “Happy Birthday.”

A lovely surprise but I’m a bit concerned that she doesn’t know the date. I thought perhaps she’s struggling with dementia, which gave a bittersweet tone to this story. Lovely, though.

Thank you, yes, I can see a bit of dementia in there or was she imagining things, reflecting on the good times…

I was concerned about that, too.

Awww … very romantic and thoughtful of him. Is she unable to remember things? The mind is robbed as we age. A wonderful story I thoroughly enjoyed.

I think so or she might be having illusions of her younger times. I heard dementia patients does that sometimes.

I live in Florida. They call it ‘The Living Cemetery’. There are discoveries being made everyday for medications for these two illnesses. I hope they find the cure. Have a wonderful week 😎

Sweet story. Growing up, a friend’s mom would never know it was her birthday. She was always taking care of everyone else that she didn’t concern herself with things like her own birthday. That’s what the rest of us are for.
