Happy Sunday! This week, Egidio from Through Brazilian Eyes hosts the Lens-Artists Photo Challenge with a somewhat challenging theme (in my opinion) of Fun and destinations.
No one’s definition of fun is the same and that includes mine. My definition of fun is peace and quiet. I don’t mind having people around, just so long they don’t go causing chaos around me. Mental peace, that’s what I’m going for.
I find peace and quiet not only soothing but it also helps me focus creatively. Some of my all-time favorite images were taken when my mind was at peace. Yes, photography is a fun hobby of mine.
This is Santa Barbara Beach in California. I found the waves rolling back and forth very mesmerizing to watch and very fun to photograph. Let’s not forget to mention that no one shot is the same. Every wave is different.
Another mean to have fun for me is to go for a drive. I’m not talking about to the grocery store or to some place familiar. I’m talking about to places with a view. Fortunately, there are plenty of those around where I am.
The “fun” in driving a car are that it can take me places and I can listen to music. Of course, the road also makes driving fun. If you ask what my favorite road to drive, I would tell you I’m torn between the road inside Bryce Canyon and Moki Dugway.
If you’ve ever driven the entire stretch of auto-tour route in Bryce Canyon, you would know what I mean. It’s a road that goes up and down with curves at almost every corner. Yes, you have to pay attention so you don’t drive off the cliff but you will also enjoy the drive. It’s the thrill factor that makes this fun. If you ask whether I would rather take this drive or go on a roller coaster, I would take this drive over a roller coaster.
Moki Dugway is an unique road in there’s a 3-mile section of unpaved road. This 3-mile section of the road is a continuous switchbacks – one level upon another – until you reach the bottom. I drove this road last December. Although I initially thought the road was scary and dangerous but that was because I was in a rental car, fear I would cause damage. It’s actually a pretty fun road to drive on.

Great photos, Yinglan.

Indeed, we think driving a car through great landscapes is fun. We quite often drove through the Alps in wintertime or the MC500 in Northern Scotland in winter or Norway’s Atlantic Road that’s really fun.
We like your pictures 👍👍
