Brenda sighed as she stood at the top of the hill, looking down at the house in which she’d lived in for the last 60 years. Has it really been this long? She wondered before let out a chuckle. “Something amusing?” Her daughter, Toni, asked.
“Just trying to recall all the wonderful things that’s happened in that house, that’s all.” And all the things I’ll be saying goodbye to, she added mentally.
At 86, Brenda was no longer that young woman, twirling around the living room with her man in her favorite dress. Now sighing, “Nursing home, here I come.”

This is a really sad reality for a lot of people. I liked that Brenda had a good attitude about her situation.

Unfortunately, for some, they don’t even get that chance to say goodbye.

Its happening to my mum right now, shes having to move away from her home of 45 years to come over to live nearer to me, Dads passed away and I think the house and the memories are too hard to deal with, making a new start at 87 is tough. Good tale

Thanks. I was thinking of my maternal grandfather who didn’t get to do that. He was tricked into a retirement home by his family.

What a heart-wrenching stage of life! The times certainly do get by quickly. I’m glad she has such good memories and a positive attitude even in later years.

it’d be a torture living in a hill at old age…nice decision to go a nursing or maybe old age home
