Happy New Year, everybody!

Now that 2025 is here, I’m not quite certain whether to be relieved or be cheerful. Somehow, I’m a bit saddened that the new year is already here. Maybe it has to do with the fact that I’m returning to work tomorrow and today feels like the end of a vacation or a long break. The last time I’ve felt this way was when I was in school and winter break has come to an end.

I’m sure I’ll be fine. After all, weekend is only 2 days away.

To be honest, I feel like I hadn’t done much in December to warrant a recap as I usually do in my monthly posts to welcome in each post.

I did, however, spent much of yesterday, New Year Eve, driving. Yesterday was the first time the sun showed itself in a week and to take advantage of the sunshine, we decided to head for the state border town – West Wendover, Nevada – to try my luck at gambling.

I have this superstition, you see, where I believe my luck for the next year will be determined by whether I win or lose on New Year Eve. I won something, all right, not a lot, but that told me plenty of what I needed to know.

On the way to the casinos, we stopped by the Bonneville Salt Flats. It’s been a few years since we’ve visited and after a week of raining and snowing, we fully expected to see a lake but instead, we were greeted by a desert.

In the end, I drove a total of about 280 miles. Thankfully, I had cruise control in my car to avoid leg fatigue.

As for what to look forward to in January 2025, there’s usually not much since it’s still winter here and there’s not many places to be. I have been spending quite a bit of time walking around the park with my music and I usually take a few photos on each walk, so I will be sharing a few photos each week, hopefully to show the changing of the season and time.

I was going to start a new project of posting one new photo a day but, honestly, that felt like quite a bit of work and it’s not something I have the capacity to do at the moment. So I might sticking to posting a few photos on hump day each week and in some of my posts.
