Do you take note of the best times to post on your blog?
Do you take note of which are the optimal times for posting your blog? Do you think it matters when you post or how many times you post in a day?
I have been posting on the same schedule for about 5 years now – first post goes out at 8:15 AM and an optional post is out at 12:15 PM. My statistics tells me that my blog is most popular on Wednesday and during the hour of 9 AM.
Obviously, I don’t follow that schedule since 9 AM is when I’m busiest at work and therefore I won’t have time to do link-ups for my posts. I think 9 AM is a popular hour on my blog because a new post is being discovered during that hour. After that hour, my new post will become old news as people move on to bigger better things.
Looking back, my posts were a lot earlier than 8:15. I used to schedule one post at around 1 AM and another one at 7 AM but those were the days when most of the readers on this blog were from the European continent. 1 AM would be Europe’s early morning and 7 AM would be their afternoon. The European continent is about 7 or 8 hours ahead of my time.
I do think the time to post matters. I try to take note of my WP reader, the time which I call a “ghost hour.” There’s one or two hours a day when no one posts. For me, it’s around 2-3 AM and 5-6 PM. There’s few or no new posts in my reader at that time.
So, when’s the best time to post? I guess it’s whenever works.
By the way, I wrote a post for Sunday Poser that tackles this topic in a similar fashion.

I used to pay so much more attention to this and when I did, my blog numbers were much bigger. Then my schedule just became nuts and for a couple of years posting at all became a problem. Now I’ve settled into another reason for blogging and that is to meet a need within my immediate community online. I’m still trying to build readership and maybe sometime I’ll have the spare time to go back and look at when I should be posting, but for now this has to do.

I, too, am trying to build readership because people are always leaving and I lost quite a big of readership when I stopped blogging a few years ago.

Yes. I think what I miss most though is the relationships I had begun to build back then that I lost when I had to walk away.

I never put attention to that…

I have tried to post during those times that get the most views. It works for a while but I usually go back to whenever it is most convenient for me. 😉

I think it also depends on the topic of the post. Some posts attracts more people while others may attact less.

Very true! 😊 Honestly, sometimes my post is just boring if I write when I am tired. My own attitude makes such a difference. 😁

I saw the same effect when I wrote my posts while nodding off.
