“You did what?” Maria shouted.

“Shh!” Michael shushed her and smiled embarrassingly at the bartender whose head sprang up at Maria’s outburst. “Not so loud.” Michael looked around despite the pub was empty. “I sold the business.” He repeated.

“Why would you do something like that without talking to me?!” Maria shouted in the hushed tone. “I’m your business partner, for heaven’s sake.”

“It was at the right moment and the price was right.”

Staring at the glass of water before her, Maria sighed, “All right, give me details but first, I’m going to need something stronger to digest this.”
