“What is this place?” Mandy asked as she got out of the car.

“It’s my sister’s farm.” John held out his hand for Mandy to hold. “Come on. There’s an event going this weekend to welcome fall, it’s going to be fun.”

Mandy took hold of John’s hand and together, they walked toward the barn. As they walked in, Mandy suddenly felt nervous. She and John have been dating for almost 6 months and this would be the first time she’s ever meeting any of his family members. Will his sister like me? She wondered.

“Hey!” A voice cried out as they entered the barn, “Where have you been, bro?” A flannel-wearing woman greeted them.

“Hey sis,” the two of them bumped fists, “I’ve been busy, if you couldn’t tell. By the way, I’d like you to meet Mandy.” He wrapped an arm around Mandy’s shoulder, “Mandy, this is my sister, Melody.”

“Nice to meet you.” Mandy said.

“Come on, let me give you guys a tour of the farm before I put my little bro to work.” Melody smiled. As they exited the barn, they were greeted by a field of giant pumpkins. “That’s the pumpkin patch and over there is the corn maze.” Melody pointed out. It was then Mandy suddenly sneezed. “Blessed you,” Melody said but it was a moment and several steps later that Mandy sneezed again. “Are you okay, Mandy?”

“I think so,” Mandy said before another sneeze came on. She could think of only one reason she would be sneezing like this. “Is there a cat around here?”
