Stop Twitching!

My left eye has been twitching non-stop for almost the past month! I think it only stopped for maybe a day? I looked it up on the internet and it said it can be caused by stress, excessive caffeine, and fatigue. Only two of the three can be the culprit because I only limit myself to one cup of coffee per day and it’s the instant kind, I doubt there’s a lot of caffeine in there.

I remember my watch kept buzzing last week, informing me that I was experiencing high stress. I tried to do the breathing exercises but still, my left eye kept twitching.

As for fatigue, I have been trying to sleep in but haven’t been able to. The thought of all those chores left in the garden for me to do jolted me awake every morning before the sun was up. I wouldn’t be able do them this early, of course, because for one thing, I can’t see what I’m doing in the dark even with a light, and for another, it freezing cold outside.

I really hate this eye-twitching situation. It makes me feel like something bad will happen at any second, like me tripping going up and down the stairs, or messing up at work, or something goes haywire outside the home. It’s making me nervous, which causes me to stress out even more.

Meanwhile, my mom’s homecoming from her travels hasn’t made this any easier. If anything, she seems worse than before she left. If there was a filter on her mouth before, she’s probably left it somewhere in Asia. She would say whatever she pleases, no matter how it makes the person feels and of course, she only does this to her family members.

I just had about enough with her the other day when I kept calling my haircut make me look like a homeless. I told her, “If you don’t have anything nice, don’t say anything. You haven’t had anything nice to say to me since you came home.”

“Like what?” She asked. Really? I thought, because I wasn’t about to repeat every mean and insulting thing she’d said to her face. She knows what she had said, unless she’s that narcissistic.

I wonder now whether my left eye will ever stop twitching for more tan 10 or 15 minutes or will this go on like a long continuous hiccup.

      1. To stop a twitching eye at home, focus on reducing stress, getting more sleep, cutting caffeine/alcohol, using warm compresses, staying hydrated, and using artificial tears for dry eyes, as these remedies address common triggers like fatigue, strain, and stimulants, though you should see a doctor if it persists.
        Lifestyle Changes
Reduce Stress: Practice deep breathing, meditation, yoga, or find relaxing hobbies.
Get More Sleep: Aim for a consistent sleep schedule and a dark, quiet room.
Limit Stimulants: Cut back on caffeine and alcohol, as they can worsen twitches.
Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
Take Eye Breaks: If using screens, follow the 20-20-20 rule (every 20 mins, look 20 feet away for 20 seconds).
        Immediate Relief
Warm Compress: Apply a warm, damp cloth to your closed eyelid for 5-10 minutes.
Lubricating Eye Drops: Use over-the-counter artificial tears to soothe dryness.
Gentle Massage: Lightly massage your eyelid.
        When to See a Doctor
If the twitching lasts for weeks, affects your vision, causes your eyelid to close fully, or spreads to other parts of your face, contact an eye doctor.

  1. We all have become our own doctors. Thanks to the internet we can now diagnose ourselves. Sadly, in my case, it never works. It’s always something different from what I thought if would be and don’t research any symptoms anymore. As for eye-twitching. I got it twice. Once it was a calcium deficiency (which is normal when you don’t have a thyroid anymore), the other time it was an infected tooth that didn’t hurt. Go figure. I hope you will be back to normal soon. Be kind to yourself.
