Susan’s parents took her to the beach when she was six months old. There, her mother liked to take pictures of her as she peeked out of her father’s backpack. “Aw, so adorable,” her mother would say whenever she passed the fridge and saw the picture.

Now, 25 years later, Susan’s at the beach for the first time since her daughter, Sarah, entered her world. “Wait up,” Sarah shouts, half-running to catch up to her husband and daughter. When her husband turned, Susan pulls out her phone and snaps a photo of them. “Aw, you two look so adorable together.”
