How often do you check the blogs you follow and unfollow the inactive ones?
Do share if you unfollow inactive blogs? And what is the standard you use if some blogger is blogging but hasn’t interacted with you in a long while?
I will have to say, “Not often enough,” although I did do a sweep probably sometime early last year. I removed the ones without a profile picture and those with an invalid name for an URL. I also unsubcribed quite a few that I am no longer interested in reading.
I must admit that I haven’t done proper housekeeping on my blog for quite a long time. I used to do them more frequently but life and duties calls and my blog took a back seat. I was going to do some blog-keeping over winter break but let’s face it, I needed the time to just do nothing. Oh well, one of these days, I will have to update my blog.
When I last did a sweep though, I did had to unfollow quite a few bloggers whose blogs somehow went in totally different direction, a direction that turned me off. I’m not sure if anyone has noticed but there are some bloggers who became very negative in the recent years and went from blogging about their every day lives to blogging about politics of sorts. If I want to read about the terrible tragedies happening around the world, all I would need to do is turn on the news or listen to my mom’s yammering during meals. When I open my reader, I like to see photos, read about the everyday going-ons, and other fun and silly things. So, yeah, if I see something negative in my reader, I’ll typically ignore once and deal with it if it repeats.

Thanks for sharing your experience Yinglan. It’s fair to unfollow a blog that isn’t to your taste anymore.

Interesting post. I do some housekeeping once in a while, but I am more judicious in terms of what I subscribe to. For me, it’s pretty easy. I like nature. So, my subscriptions often cover blogs that focus on nature (flowers, animals, landscapes, etc.).

Thank you.
I love that kind of blog, too, but it’s quite hard to find sometimes.

I agree about dissing negative blogs. Blogging needs to be fun for me to keep doing it.

I have often wondered whether I overdo the housekeeping on my blog. Trying to find a balance

Haha, I think I’m the opposite, I often wonder if I under-do the housekeeping. 😀 That is when I finally get to that chore.
