A few weeks ago, I posted a photo of the first bloom in my garden – a purplish-blue crocus. Many people commented and thought it was an iris even though I stated in the post that it’s a crocus. Irises blooms late spring – May or early June – and we were in February.

Anyway, that wasn’t my favorite type of crocus but for some reason, I have clumps of that variety of crocus in random places in the flower beds this year. These purple with white stripes are my favorite variety of crocus. I love how the petals look like they were painted. So strange yet so beautiful.

On sunny days, I love to take walks around the garden. Things change so fast in the spring that I often feel like I can see the changes each time I step outside. A few days ago, I found this catmint looking like it’s getting ready to bloom.

I made the mistake of planting a catmint in the front garden because it attracted this stray black cat who likes to come and lay on top of the flowers, damaging the tulips and daffodils. I once found it eating the catmint, biting on the leaves, but it would never put its body on it, it will only put its body on my tulips and daffodils, drives me crazy.

I will admit, I love those light purple blooms. Who am I kidding? I love anything purple.

I will close with this new photo of the daffodils. Checking my garden journal, it appears the daffodils are about a month early this year. According to my journal, it didn’t begin to bloom until late March but this year, it began blooming late February. It’s been a very strange winter.

This is my current favorite of all the daffodil photos. I tried all kinds of crop on this photo before settling with a square crop – not to loose and not too tight. As you can probably tell, there’s more blooms coming in the background, I bet by next week, this flower bed will be a sea of yellow.
