Friday Fictioneers: The Old Pot

PHOTO PROMPT © Roger Bultot

As a child, Kelly remembered gazing up at her grandfather’s media cabinet, wondering what a rusty old pot was doing on top of the cabinet alongside. She had never seen her grandmother cook with it nor touch it, in fact, her grandmother avoided it like a plague.

Now, 30 years later, 6 months after her grandfather’s passing, Kelly is cleaning the house, preparing to sell. She collapses on the couch, exhausted. That’s when she saw it. At once, she stands, crosses the room, and pulls down the pot. She opens the lid and stares into a pair of hollow eyes.
