Daily Prompt: If you were involved in a movie, would you rather be the director, the producer, or the lead performer? (Note: you can’t be the writer!).
I think I would like to be the director than any other roles because the director is basically the person making the decision of how the film is shot, the behind the scene performer, some would call it. This role is essentially the most important of the entire film.
I debated in my head between that and the producer. From what I know, the producer is basically the person paying for it. This role is basically the employer of everyone. He/she makes the decisions of who to hire. Although that also sounds like a fun role to be involved in a movie, it doesn’t feel creative. I think I would rather be on the creative front, making decision of how the movie should be shot.
As for lead performer, nope, that is out of the question. Of course the lead performer is important too since a movie wouldn’t exist without actors and actresses. However, I am not the kind of person to be in front of the camera. I like taking pictures but I really prefer to be the person holding the camera deciding how the picture should be shot or the director.
The other reason I would rather be the director than the producer is while there are many awards for actors and actresses, there are also quite a few award for directors but I see none for producers. So it feels like the producer is merely the person sitting behind a desk hiring people and writing a check. No offense.
