Winter Wonderland

It’s been snowing here for last 24 hours and it’s beginning to look more like winter. It’s been a while since we had so much snow here.

This was yesterday. There was accumulation even outside the basement window.

Here is today. It wasn’t until noon when the blue sky finally show up.

Accumulation total in my backyard: about 10″ or 25 cm

My audit final is tonight. I hope I won’t have any trouble driving to school tonight. Wish me luck!

      1. Yeah, I wouldn’t want to go out when it’s snowing, not unless it’s absolutely necessary. I like to just sit with a cup of hot cocoa and watch the fluffy snowflakes. 🙂

      2. No, I wish but my mom is worried about the fire danger and she said we’re Chinese and Chinese people don’t use fireplace. I don’t know what’s that got to do with anything but okay.

      1. Yes, it was very kind of the person. The school somehow failed to apply salt so when night came, every drop of water on the pavement froze to ice.

      2. You might want to call the Maintenance Department of the college and tell them about the difficulty you had walking on the ice. That way if enough people call them they will be sure to remember to do it!

      3. I was wearing my snow boots but it wasn’t a match for the ice. Apparently no shoes is safe on ice, not unless you wrap a special chain around the shoe like you would for a tire. I thought about getting it but didn’t think I’d need it since weather like this doesn’t come often.

  1. First of all, with snow that deep, I wouldn’t suggest you to drive Yinglan. Was there any other way to school? Bus maybe?
I love the 2nd and the 3rd pictures from the top the most. We are in summer right now in Sydney.., a very different picture here! 🙂
    Keep warm!

    1. No, the bus to school would’ve taken longer, way longer (about 3 hours) and there is no guarantee that I will get a ride home. I wish so much for summer right now. Thanks for reading. 🙂

  2. Yey, snow! Here, we don´t get much of it anymore so I will have to take my husband to the mountains to see the “real thing” 😀 Good luck in your exam!

  3. The snow is really beautiful, but having to travel in it isn’t such a great experience. I live in Florida now and have for many years, but when I was in Virginia I use to walk a few blocks to the school bus and my feet were frozen by the time I got on the bus. The warmth inside the bus made my feet feel like they were melting…I expected to look down and see puddles of water in my shoes!
