Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Fountains

This is the fountain at the university I’m currently attending. People call this place the “Duck Pond” because before the school existed, this was the home to a lot of ducks. It still is and this serves as the ducks’ watering hole.

If you squint, you can see a few ducks in the water, just enjoying the warm sunny day. It makes the school a little special when students rushing to the parking lots have to stop and let the line of ducks cross the road. I had to do that a few times. It took forever and the lines felt endless, just one after another. That’s why I tend to avoid this area even it meant taking a longer route. I don’t want the ducks to be reason I’m late for class.

This is a fountain under repair. I took this while in Chicago last fall (oops, marked the picture with the wrong year). I believe this is the Queen’s Fountain by Millennium Park but it’s been a while, I can’t remember much about the specifics.  I would imagine the fountain is very beautiful when it’s working. At least I got a peek at what a fountain looks like when there’s not water.

  1. beautiful photos. i thought it so adorable that the ducks lined up to cross the road, my first pet was a duck and i loved it so much too. are the trees in your photo sparse this time of year?

    1. Thank you. I thought it was adorable too. The photo was taken in spring this year and I thought the trees were pretty dense because other than in the mountains and forests, the landscapes are pretty sparse here.

      1. its a new landscape to my eyes , i assumed the leaves would have more leaves or maybe they are tiny leaves and grouped together, i like their look though, i dont get to see this sort of scenery where i live.

      2. The trees here are mostly ferns, the most popular tree is spruce trees (the ones that look like a Christmas tree) since this is part-Plains and part-desert.

  2. Wow that fountain shoots up so high, I’m surprised that the ducks are not afraid of it…I suppose they have become accustom to it…I can see them too! 🙂
