I feel festive looking at this picture, don’t you? I’m looking forward to the holidays more than ever this year. Maybe because that mood is missing at the office. We’re not allowed to decorate, you see, not even in our own little cubicles.
To my Chinese colleagues, Christmas is about getting discounts and traveling and getting time off. They don’t really understand or care about the meaning of the holiday, only the commercialism of it. This makes me sad.
A few weeks ago, when they told me they bought a turkey for Thanksgiving, I asked them why. They told me, “It’s how people celebrate Thanksgiving, isn’t it? They eat a turkey?”
*sigh*
“Yes, that’s how people celebrate Thanksgiving but what’s the meaning behind it?” They shrugged and went onto another topic.
Hmm, maybe that’s why my holiday spirit is high this year.

I wish the US celebrates Chinese new year, that’d be so great! No, I don’t get any day off for that. ☹
