One of the most memorable places I visited during my road trip last year has to be hiking Valley of Five Lakes. This hiking trail is located near the town of Jasper in Alberta, Canada at the north end of Highway 93 (Icefield Parkway). My aunt and I hiked this trail on the second day of our three-day tour of Icefield Parkway.
I was quite skeptical going into this hike. I didn’t believe what the name says. Valley of Five Lakes? Pa-lease, like I’m going to see five lakes grouped in one place. Going into this hike, I was expecting I would have to hike a long distance before seeing any of the lakes.
It turned out the destination was just as described – Valley of Five Lakes – literally five lakes near one another. To get to the lakes required about a mile hike but once you get there, you will not want to leave. The picture above is Lake #5 and below are Lake #4, Lake #3, and Lake #1.
We spent the most time at Lake #3 because my aunt was chasing a squirrel. For some strange reason, my aunt loves photographing squirrels, as if squirrels are strange animals from outer space. For me, I can never seem to be able to capture squirrels on camera. Whenever I approach them with my camera, they would run as fast as they can.
