A Photo a Week Challenge: Over 100 Years Old

There are many places in China that can easily be dated over 100 years old, some even a few hundreds. This place, one of the destinations on my trip to China, is at least 700 years old. This place is called Tusi City – meaning a private city for the Tu family. According to my research, this dates before Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 AD).

When you enter its ancient gates (show in the first photo), you will find yourself approaching this arch. The characters on this arch is the testimony of this family (Tu)’s patriotism.

Beyond the arch was nothing short of spectacular. Standing at 12 meters high, this totem pole, according to my research, is a symbol for clan.

The most memorable spot of Tusi City, however, was definitely this dragon at the side of the temple.
