Share Your World – Week of June 7, 2021

What’s the worst commercial you’ve recently seen (or heard)? Why was it so bad?

This is the main reason I DVR all my shows now instead of watching them on Demand – to have the power of skipping past the commercials. Commercials, I think, are something to like and dislike. There are some pretty funny ones while there are some very annoying ones.

A bad commercial from the top of my head is one that probably only people from Utah has seen because it’s for a local car dealership. Basically, 2 wrestlers – a sumo wrestler with a ninja riding on its head and a regular human wrestler with a snake wrapped around his neck. It’s very animated and funny in a way but it leaves me so confused as to why the dealership is the human wrestler with a snake wrapped around his neck. I don’t get it and it keeps showing up.

At first, I didn’t hate it but now I do.

What takes a lot of time but is totally worth it?

I can think of 2 things – jigsaw puzzles and hiking for photography.

If you pick the right puzzle, you’ll get a very beautiful piece of artwork when you’re done and the best thing is knowing you put it together yourself.

It takes much longer to hike for photography than to hike for exercise. For one thing, one must carry the equipment and spend time scouting compositions. From my experience, a good landscape photo requires lots of time from composing and taking the photo in the field to doing post-processing after getting home. It’s well worth it though.

Have you ever smiled at a stranger and then wished you hadn’t? Why or why not?

I can’t remember a specific circumstance where I had done that but most likely, it’s because I smiled at the wrong person.

What do you think is the nastiest tasting food?  (This one might be a recycled question.  It’s familiar to me anyhow)

Anything in the onion family. There’s something about it that makes me gag. My grandparents in China used to make me eat green onions all the time when I was little. “It makes you smart,” they’d say. I’d rather be dumb than have to eat such nasty stuff just to gain a few brain cells.

  1. Thank you for Sharing Your World Yinglan! I totally agree with you on the whole onion thing. That’s sheer torture!! But I don’t like onions at all either. Aren’t we fortunate to live in Utah where there are lots of beautiful photo opportunities to be had in the mountains or the desert? It must be great to be able to hike to find just the right spot for a beautiful photo! Enjoy your week!
