#AtoZChallenge 2022 – Rescue or Not

Beth, Charlie, Daphne, and Ethan are lost. After Abby’s kidnapping and disappearance, the four of them decide they must get out of the mansion and find help as soon as possible but so far, all they’ve done is run around in circles.

“Didn’t anyone pay attention when we first arrive at this place?” Daphne says with exasperation.

No one say anything.

It’s then Daphne suddenly realizes Abby’s the one who often spoke up. She might had been the only one paying attention this whole time and now she’s gone. Crap!

“Hey, what are you all doing here?” Comes a sudden booming voice.

Daphne feels her heart lurch. She doesn’t know whether this is a good thing or a bad thing. “Um, we were exploring the mansion.” She blurts. Micky narrows his eyes at the four of them like he’s x-raying them. “By chance, can you tell us where here is?” Daphne adds. “Because we are completely lost.”

“Here,” Micky emphasizes, “is a restricted spot, forbidden to guests. Now, if you’ll follow me, I will guide you back to your rooms.”

“Why our rooms?” Charlie chimes in. “Why not, say, the pool?”

“We don’t have a pool.” Micky says with a hint of embarrassment, stops in his tracks, and turns around. “Look, pool or not, you need to return to your rooms and stay there. There’s…been an incident.”

“With Abby? We know. I was there.” Charlie half-snarls. “You know what, just cut whatever bullshit your boss told you to say to us. We’re not idiots.”

“You…know?” Micky says slowly.

“Shit, Charlie, patience isn’t your strong suit, is it?” Daphne is now angry. She was getting there, pulling information out of Micky her way and now, the situation feels out of her control. Crap! She turns to Micky and crosses her arms, “Yeah, we know about Abby. You can either help us get out of here or you can point us where your boss has taken Abby or you can go rescue Abby before she gets murdered.” Daphne doesn’t know what Richard will do to Abby but in her mind, murder sounds previous obvious.

Following her, the others cross their arms and close in on Micky despite Micky being twice their size until Micky shouts, “All right, all right, I’ll help you.”
