Truthful Tuesday 09-13-2022 on a Wednesday – Music

Do you enjoy the same kind of music as your spouse/partner/significant other.
If not, do you listen to your own preferences in another room or using headphones, or not bother?

I don’t share any musical interest as anyone in the family. Heck, I don’t even listen to the same language music as the rest of the family. I know my mom listens to either Chinese music or oldies that’s been translated into Chinese.

I like English music all the way. After all, I grew up in the U.S. I listen mostly contemporary mainstream adult pop, country music, and a little bit of music from the 70’s or the 80’s. I find some of the songs from that era are quite good. I usually crank up the music in my car, whether I’m streaming music from my phone or listening to satellite radio.

Sometimes, at home, I like to shut my door and play music through my Echo like while I’m writing this post. I find it quite relaxing and especially at night, I find listening to music is actually feels more quiet than not listening music. I think music helps me focus on something else than the noise coming from my mother’s bedroom.

  1. Interesting-! My friends would probably say my music taste is too similar to my family’s, but-
    Growing up with them, they exposed me to a lot of 80s, 90s, even 2000s Chinese and Japanese pop, then I picked up some English artists as I learned the language—I honestly couldn’t choose a favourite among the languages, but I agree with that last point! Feels so much noisier when my playlists stop and I have to hear the people around me again (-。-;

    1. I spent my first 10 years in China and even though I did listen to music, my first exposure to music I like was after moving to the U.S. So I don’t listen to any other music other than English music.
