Sunday Poser #166 – Online Privacy

How important is online privacy for you?

How careful you are regarding your online security? Do you share details on your blog? Do you think we should share pictures etc on our blogs?

I am very careful when it comes to online security, at least I think I am but sometimes, I feel like the more careful I am, the more likely I will run into trouble. To answer the question, online privacy is quite important to me.

I rarely share photos of myself or my family members even though I know none of them would ever visit my blog. Even on Facebook, I post mostly landscape photos. I’ve mentioned on previous posts that I don’t think anyone’s ever taken a decent photo of me, at least not one that I can share. I was looking at the photos my aunt took of me at Horseshoe Bend and Four Corners Monument, I was either super small or I was shaded in a giant shadow. This aunt does not take good photos.

I do share details on my blog. After all, it is my blog and I created it as a form of diary. However, I filter as I write and purposely leave details out for the sake of keeping the post short and concise. Rest assure, most of those details are just fluff.

Lastly, I feel sharing pictures on our blogs is a decision that’s up to the blogger. Personally, I think pictures makes a post easier to read and I don’t think it has been a picture you’ve taken. I think as long as it’s relevant to the post, it’s fine if the picture came from other sources but do credit the photographer.

  1. Well, I don’t even share my wife’s name, nor actually call her my wife. But, the myth of online privacy is just that, a myth. Almost anybody can gain all the information they want in a few keystrokes, including your keystrokes.
