Sunday Poser #167 – New Technology

Do you like trying new things/ technology?

Do you change your phone or laptop/ or your other devices when a newer model becomes available? Or do you keep on using the device till it just does on you?

I am probably the last to upgrade when it comes to technology for the same reason Sadje stated in her post – too expensive and when change when it still works?

I wasn’t always like this though. I remember when I was a teenager, when the first generation of iPod first came out, I wanted it and I didn’t want the basic version, I wanted the one with the largest storage. Unfortunately, we couldn’t afford it at the time as we were nearly broke at the time.

When my mom received her bonus from joining the army in 2008, she finally allowed me to buy an iPod classic 80GB. It was actually the final version of the iPod Apple would ever release as it was discontinued less than 6 years later.

I’m actually not into trying new technology these days. I feel there will always that goes awry in the first generation of anything and it will only get better in latter generations as companies continue to seek to improve their product. It’s the way of humans, I think, we are always seek to improve.

After five years, I recently reluctantly upgraded my phone. It was the second smart phone I’ve ever own and though the new phone has a much better camera and battery than the own phone, I really can’t find any difference and yet it cost more, simply because I opted for more storage. So, no, I don’t really like trying new things, particularly new technology.
