While reading posts from those you follow, do you prefer short posts or long ones?
Do you prefer reading long posts or short ones? How many blogs do you follow, and do you find time to read all their posts, daily?
At this point in my blogging journey, I have no idea how many bloggers I follow, probably somewhere in the hundreds. I’ve never bothered to count because just because I follow a blogger doesn’t mean I will read their posts daily.
No offense but some of the bloggers I follow writes very boring, informative posts and I follow because I like their A-Z posts. Also, there have been a few deaths in the blogging community and I never unfollowed those bloggers out of respect, just like I don’t unfriend my dead friends on Facebook because how can one do that?
I don’t think I read that many blog posts per day though. Not all the bloggers I follow post daily, many of whom post on a weekly basis but yes, I do find the time to catch up on blogs, whether during my 30-minute break from work, during meals, or before bed. I scan a lot of the posts, particularly the ones with only photographs. I feel that kind of posts don’t require much thoughts and reading but I do gain inspiration from them.
Personally, I do prefer shorter posts (perferably 200-500 words), particularly on weekdays when I might be on a time crunch. I don’t mind long posts as long as they’re entertaining and grab my attention but I sometimes would save those to read on the weekends.

I must not be very interesting…

I was probably doing some other stuff than reading blogs.

I actually like a mix. I do scan my Reader, and stop at those which catch my interest. These can be long or short.
I also catch up specifically with a “basket of posts”, which I keep in touch with.
I am finding it very challenging keeping up with comments and responses – so many interesting conversations going on there, limited time/energy.

I, too, am finding it challenging to keep up with comments because it takes time to come up with a thoughtful response other than a simple “thank you.”

Exactly. Meaningful conversations are stimulating but take considerably more effort & time!

Thanks for sharing your experience Yinglan. I too prefer shorter posts and those which are easier to follow.
