Every afternoon at 3:59PM, my grandfather would announce, “All right, news’ on, no one talk,” before slumping back on the couch and turn up the volume.
Honestly, I’ve never found the news particularly interesting. The interesting bits are always during the first 15 minutes and then for the rest of the hour, the anchors would just repeat the information.
That night, though, it was particularly interesting. It showed a car being lifted from the river. Its wheels were missing. I stood closer to the TV as a sense of dread loomed. Oh. My. Gosh, I know whose car that is.
(100 words)

Now that is when news becomes personal. You know whose car it is and I wonder; will we get to find out. In our house people fall asleep during the long repetitive news stories. I switch the TV off.

I will probably leave that part to your imagination. 😀

I’m wondering what your narrator’s link to that car is. She’s definitely worried. Well told.

I was thinking an ex, maybe? Or something may had happened to her long ago?

Now, is that horror or is that guilt at the end?

I sensed a little bit of both.

I think it was one of the MC’s previous lovers.

I feel like it can be one of those stupid things the MC might had done when she was young. I think we all have those moments, right?

The first part of the story is relatable. Happens in my house, too :). The last line sounds like the beginning of a good story. Whose car is it?

I think the car can be anyone from the MC’s past. An ex, maybe?
